How Does A Person Become a Winning Blackjack Player?January 5th, 2009 12:57 am EST
This is not going to be some mind-blowing blackjack strategy article. I'm not going to teach you how to count cards. I'm not going to give you some life-changing strategy lessons.
This article is all about one thing - common sense.
Do you really want to become a winning blackjack player?
Sure you do. Everybody does.
Do you have the discipline to become a winning blackjack player? That's the more appropriate question.
There is one thing that all winning blackjack players have in common - discipline.
Do you really want to become a winning blackjack player? Then you need to do the following things:
1. Practice proper bankroll management. One of the fastest ways to blow your bankroll is to increase bet sizes when you are losing money. You need to practice proper bankroll management and keep yourself focused and disciplined while sitting at the table. If you have a maximum bet size, then stick to this maximum while sitting at the table. Don't double your bet sizes just because you are losing money.
2. Practice, practice, practice. You are not going to become a great golfer without practice. Why would blackjack be any different? You need to put in the hours and learn the game from the bottom up.
3. Learn the rules of the game. Learn about insurance. Learn about doubling down. Learn about splitting. If you don't know the rules of blackjack, then you are destined to become a loser in the game.
4. Have fun. You need to be able to smile when you are losing. If you are one of these people that goes completely crazy when you suffer through a losing streak, then you are destined to "tilt" off your bankroll and end up with empty pockets. Don't be this type of person.
There is no substitute for the four things listed above. If you aren't prepare to do these four things, then you will NOT become a winning blackjack player - it's as simple as that.
