Blackjack is a game where you can improve your odds of winning by developing a deep understanding of the game. The house only has a small % advantage compared to other games, and with a thorough understanding of doubling down and splitting pairs, amongst other things, you can increase your odds of winning even more.
Also in blackjack, the dealer is forced to hit up to 17, whereas the player has no such restrictions. The house gains the edge in that the dealer turns over their "hole" card after all of the players have taken their turns. So statistically, more people than not will have busted by the time that the dealer plays their hand, so the house maintains a microscopic advantage over the players.
