Anchor:
Last player seated on the dealer's right side
Burn Card:
Single card discarded from the top of the deck
Bust:
When a hand's total # value exceeds 21
Cut Card:
Solid-colored plastic card used to cut the decks
Double Down:
Double thebet on your first two cards and draw only one more card
Flat Bet:
Standard bet amount that does not change from hand to hand
Grinder:
Small money bettor
Hard Hand:
Count on Ace card as 1 not 11
Head-On:
To play at the Blackjack table alone with the dealer
Hit:
Request another card from the dealer.
Hole Card:
Any face down card.
Pair:
When a player's first two cards are the same
Pat Hand:
A hand with a total # value of 17 to 21
Pit Boss:
Well-dressed floor manager who supervises players and dealers
Push:
A tie.
Settlement:
The bet's outcome. Chips taken, money paid or Push.
Shoe:
Card-dealing device able to hold many decks.
Soft Hand:
To count an Ace card as 11 not 1
Split:
Split any two cards of same amount into separate hands
Stand:
Stay with the cards you currently have
Take:
Gratuity. Tipping or "Toking" the dealer
